Jamie Kennedy Gives Pre Season Training Advice for BBC Sport

So when BBC Sport need a Personal Trainer who works with Sports Professionals to comment and give advice on getting fit for the football season – who do they call? Our very own Jamie Kennedy – Owner /Manager of The Fitness Experience, Personal Training Centre in Burnley. 

Jamie is an expert in his field and has been Personal Trainer to local football players for the last 3 years from the likes of  Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier, Liverpool’s Danny Ings, Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier and Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez. So it’s no wonder he was asked to comment and advise on this BBC Sport Feature giving tips on how the top football players get fit for the season.

Last year we took 17 clients  from  FX Fitness Experience in Burnley – who took on the toughest, muddiest obstacle course challenge of their lives at the North West  Tough Mudder event in Cheshire on 13 September.

‘Team FX’, from the Fitness Experience Personal training centre, Burnley put a team of 17 men and women from age 22 to 56 through the challenging endurance course . A family owned business meant that Mum- Sue Kennedy and 2 her sons Jamie and Josh (all Personal Trainers at the centre) undertook the course together with 14 clients and staff who train at the Personal Training centre.

FX Tough Mudder North West

Tough Mudder is a hardcore 12 mile obstacle and mud run event designed by British Special Forces to challenge the toughest of the tough. Electric shocks, icy water and endless filth – Tough Mudder is the endurance test that throws everything at its competitors. By the end of 2014 two million men and women aged 18 and over will have entered a Tough Mudder event.  It even requires entrants to sign a death waiver!

Team FX Show some love for British Heart Foundation on their Valentines Day 10k Run

Over 30 Fitness Experience clients of all different fitness levels and running ability turned out on Valentines Day morning wearing red  to run a 10k run as part of TEAM FX annual programme of events and training plans.

The Valentines day run was the idea of Personal Trainer at FX Sue Kennedy who takes the FX Running Club every Wednesday night. Sue wanted to get clients  in training for various running events and challenges  ‘Team FX’ will be taking on this year from the Liverpool Half marathon, Pennine Lancashire 10k run and Tough Mudder North West in September. The Red Valentines Day theme also fitted nicely with the Fitness Experience’s support of the British Heart Foundation’s #WearItBeatIT campaign in February. So everyone who ran the 10k race made a donation to the British Heart Foundation.

The 10k route took in some of Burnley’s finest parks and countryside and was a warm up for the  Pennine lancashire  10k run on 28th June in Burnley.

It was the first time several clients had ever run a 10k race whilst others  were working on achieving their personal best. Whatever your running ability or fitness levels FX fitness have a  personal training programme that can help you get fit and achieve things you never dreamed you could!

FX Clients Kate and Paul Healey – even joined us with their 4 week old baby girl ‘Elizabeth Grace’ -(our 1st FX baby!) – they walked the route with us and newborn baby Elizabeth has done her first 10k already (kind of!)

 Jamie Kennedy, Personal Trainer and  FX Centre Manager said ‘This is my favourite photo of the day that shows what FX is about. I hope everyone can see how diverse the clients are at ‪#‎teamFX‬ are. If someone asks what type of fitness or health do I need to be in to train at FX – we can honestly say ‘any’. From fitness professionals like Danny Ings  to everyday people . Staff & Clients at The  Fitness Experience Personal Training Centre in Burnley are painting the place ‘RED’ today in Support of the British Heart Foundation  ‘WEAR IT. BEAT IT’ day on Friday 6th February.

Since 6am clients and Personal Trainers have been encouraged to wear RED and participate in fitness challenges set  by all the Personal trainers – Josh, Jamie, Alex, Sue, Andy and Tom . Clients have to make a donation  to do the challenges!

There is also a challenge for all the Personal Trainers to complete before the end of the day – Which Personal trainer can do the most Burpees in 1 minute (and they are a very competitive bunch).  Clients are being encouraged to pledge a donation and name the PT they think will win the Burpees Challenge

Even Burnley FC footballer Danny Ings called in to make a donation wearing his ‘RED’ trainers! Danny said he’s looking forward  to seeing the video later of Jamie Kennedy doing  the Burpees challenge !

Our SMALL Group Training Classes are groups of 5-6 people (except for Bootcamp and Running Club)  – which supports our ethos at FX – Small, friendly and personal. So even if you join us for small group Training (instead of Personal Training), you’ll get a personal experience from our PT’s – making sure you get the best from EVERY workout. You could combine group training with Personal Training sessions too.

FX ‘Next Steps’ Event – A Huge Success

A goal without a plan is just a wishThe FX ‘Next Steps’ Event held on Sunday 28th September  on forthcoming changes at FX and nutrition/ diet was a huge success. We were overwhelmed by the turn out and positive feedback we received from clients.

 Over 50 people turned out to learn the science behind diets and nutrition and periodised programming at FX, with a chance to sample products and understand more about   ‘macros’ (how you balance your  proteins, fats and carbohydrates in your diet) which FX Fitness are experienced in to  assess you and come up with a formula that is personal to you.  

The 6 Personal Trainers at FX Fitness delivered several presentations  to get clients focussed on their ‘NEXT STEPS’ with FX, as well as news on our new website, new packages and launch of our NEW 12 week ‘Body Transformation’ . The event ended with a lively  Q & A session and a bit of socialising at the bar! We’re supporting our clients on their FX journey to health, fitness and wellbeing.
